KARACHI: Chief Collector Customs (Enforcement) South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar on Wednesday said that imports into the country increased after Customs Department, in collaboration with Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), curtailed smuggling by 80 percent.
He was speaking at an interactive meeting with businessmen. Force Commander Anti-Narcotics Force Sindh Brigadier Muhammad Abuzar was also present in the meeting.
Zahid Khokhar said the smuggling of Iranian oil was almost stopped. Rs 7 billion worth of smuggled goods were seized during the last year. He assured that the problem of Rs 10 billion exports rebates would be solved within a month. He also assured to solve problems of paper merchants after decisions of the court.
Chief Collector Zahid Khokhar said that a system was being prepared to stop under invoicing of goods imported from China.
