MEXICO: A Soyuz space capsule carrying a Russian, an American and a Japanese has successfully docked at the International Space Station (ISS).
The rocket blasted off from a Russian-manned launch facility in Kazakhstan about five hours and 45 minutes earlier and managed to connect to the orbiting laboratory 250 miles above earth.
The passengers, Russia’s Oleg Kononenko, Nasa’s Kjell Lindgren and Kimiya Yui, from Japan, have joined three astronauts already on the ISS: Gennady Padalka, Mikhail Kornienko and Scott Kelly. The latter two are more than four months into a nearly year-long mission on the space station.
The launch was postponed by about two months in April after the failure of an unmanned Russian cargo ship which raised a few concerns about Russian rocketry.
Now aboard, the Expedition 44 crew are getting stuck into life on the ISS.
