SRB collects Rs17.2b sales tax during 1Q of FY2016-17

KARACHI: Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) collected Sindh Sales Tax amounting to Rs17.2 billion during the first quarter (July-Sept) of FY2016-17, which represents a growth of 16% as compared to the revenue of Rs14.8 billion collected during the corresponding period of last fiscal. It’s despite the reduction of 1% in the standard rate of the tax from 14% in 2015-16 to 13% 2016-17. SRB expects to achieve the target of Rs78 billion as assigned for 2016-17 despite the aforesaid reduction in rate.

SRB acknowledged that its aforesaid revenue collection performance was due to the continued trust, cooperation and confidence of its taxpayers, the continued support and assistance by the government of Sindh.
