KARACHI: Opened with positive note, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) shed the early gains and went to negative zone till midday. The benchmark 100-shares shed 12.45 points to reach 33933.92 points.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 34058.28 points and lowest level of 33913.89 points, with the volume of 156 million shares, having about Rs5 billion value. As many as 298 companies were active; of which 169 advanced, 116 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
The three top traded companies were PIAC (A) with a volume of 12,405,000 and price per share of 8.81 (0.58), Byco Petroleum with a volume 11,413,000 of price per share of 18.88 (0.57), Jah.Sidd. Co. with a volume 8,966,000 of price per share of 23.53 (0.72).
The top three gainers were Nestle Pak with price per share 7950 (72), Bhanero Tex with price per share of 624.50 (29.39) and Abbott Lab. SPOT price per share of 680 (24.97).
The top three losers were Murree Brewery with price per share of 722 (-16.51), Ferozsons (Lab) with price per share of 848.10 (-8.41) and Atlas Battery per share of 560 (-8.40).
Earlier, the PSX opened bullish and crossed psychological barrier of 34,000 by gaining 80.96 points and reached 34027.33 points level in early trading.
On Wednesday, led by cement and oil sector scrips on upbeat sales data, the stocks rebounded on. The benchmark 100-share index gained 179.88 points (up 0.53%) to close at 33,946.37 points. Volume decreased by 9% to 298m shares while value decreased by 21% at Rs 10.7b/$102m. Oil stocks gained as international oil prices rose. POL, OGDC and PPL closed up between the range of 0.4% to 1.5%.
