Strict measures directed at all 3 sea ports over novel cronavirus

KARACHI: All three ports of the country have taken extensive measures to restrict the novel crona virus which has badly affected the different countries including China when the disease was first surfaced.

According to the details, to restrict the deadly virus named novel crona the administrations of all the three sea ports, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (PQA) as well as Gwadar Port has issued a health care notification for the foreign nationals specially people coming from China.

The notification issued by the port Health Establishment stated that preventive measures must be taken at the port entry as Pakistan being a responsible member of the World Community and is signatory of the International Health Regulations 2005.

Necessary preventive measures are being taken to prevent entry / spread of communicable disease in Pakistan at the points of entries to the save this nation and country from the havoc virus novel crona virus being spread through neighboring country China.

It has also been directed to the authorities to submit the Maritime Declaration of Health, Last ten ports of call, declaration from the Captain of the vessel regarding the health status of his own as well as crew members and the vaccination list. All the stated documents will have to be submitted before the berthing of any vessel at the sea ports of the country.

On the other hand the ministry of the Maritime Affairs has issued the notification directing for the port authorities not to allow off shore passes to the crew of the foreign ships calling at the ports and ensure that they must not disembark the ships at any cost.

It is pertinent to mention here, that Chinese authorities have closed off almost 20 cities in efforts to contain a new corona virus that has killed at least 106 people in recent weeks, with cases confirmed in several countries in Asia and beyond.
