MULTAN: The Wapda has blamed electricity theft and poor recovery of dues for prevailing loadshedding in Sukkur and adjacent areas.
While talking to media, Sukkur region Hesco Chief Executive Officer Muzaffar Ali Khan Abbasi said that power pilferage was on the rise in Sukkur and people were reluctant to pay electricity bills.
“Even donkey-cart owners have installed ACs in their homes on pilfered electricity,” he said, adding that majority of the people were using illegal electricity connections. He said that bills recovery ratio was 100 per cent in Punjab against the abysmal situation in the interior Sindh, where people avoid paying bills while relying on stolen electricity.
The HESCO CEO said that a plan has been devised to take strict action against power thieves.
