TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic Products Distribution, Semiconductor and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Power (TW:8261), which rose 9.98% or 2.55 points to trade at 28.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Chang Type (TW:1541) added 9.95% or 4.15 points to end at 45.85 and Uniform (TW:2482) was up 9.92% or 1.20 points to 13.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Abocom Systems (TW:2444), which fell 10.00% or 0.97 points to trade at 8.73 at the close. Mosel (TW:2342) declined 6.37% or 0.17 points to end at 2.50 and Eclat Textile (TW:1476) was down 5.56% or 28.50 points to 484.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 468 to 374.
Shares in Chang Type (TW:1541) rose to all time highs; rising 9.95% or 4.15 to 45.85.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.43% or 0.66 to $45.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.01% or 0.49 to hit $48.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1109.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.58% to 32.483, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1980.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.47.
