Tax refunds up to Rs 5m of exporters to start from next month: Khurram

LAHORE: Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastagir Khan said that the government would start refund up to Rs 5 million to exporters from next month.

He said, refunds issue of exporters would be resolved very soon and the textile ministry would pay Rs 2.5 billion to exporters according to textile policy.

Khurram Dastagir said through active diplomacy, the government was trying to get better market access for the local businesses in international markets by concluding free trade agreements and preferential trade agreements with different countries.

He said that 33 percent increase has been made in Pakistan’s exports after gaining GSP Plus status, adding that under GSP Plus status, ninety percent products of Pakistan has access to 28 European Union countries at zero rated duty.

He said the government was making efforts to further exploit the status by diversifying its exports. He said Pakistan was also exploring opportunities of exports to east European countries.
