Token tax: Multan Excise collects Rs 114m on last day of discount facility

MULTAN: Marking a record collection in one day, the Excise and Taxation Department Multan has collected Rs 114 million as token tax on the last day of discount facility.

The discount facility on the token tax of vehicle was announced by Motor branch of Excise and Taxation Department which has come to end now, however after expiry of deadline, motor vehicle owners will have to pay entire fee.

Token tax has been a major source of income for excise as well as for national exchequer.

Official told Customs Today that more than 2000 people of Multan region availed this facility on the last day. It is important to mention here that last date for depositing the token tax at concession rate was August 31, 2015.
