Torkham Appraisement seizes smuggled goods worth Rs10.9m

TORKHAM: Collectorate of Customs Appraisement Torkham has seized smuggled goods worth Rs10.9 million from two trucks.

Sources told Customs Today that the operation was carried out after receiving credible information received by Collector Appraisement Mohammad Ashfaq.

An anti-smuggling squad was constituted under the supervision of Najeeb Arjuman, which also includes  Mujahid Din, Superintendent, Muhammad Ayaz Khan, Inspector, Sepoys Faraz Khan and other.

The team searched the trucks and recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods that were concealed in the secret compartments of the vehicles. The value of the seized goods was estimated at Rs10.9 million. The drivers and owners of the trucks were arrested and a case was registered against them.

It is pertinent to mention here that Collector Appraisement Mohammad Ashfaq directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He further directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
