ISLAMABAD: The staff of Customs Station Torkham has foiled a bid to smuggle 320 cellular phones and electronic imaging equipment worth million of rupees.
According to the details, an accused was trying to slip into the Pakistan when customs staff intercepted him during pedestrian traffic checking and recovered smuggled mobile phones from his possession.
The Customs staff deputed at Torkham seized 320 cellular phones of various brands, such as Samsung, Apple, etc. the staff also seized engineering-grade imaging equipment.
The officials of Custom Station Torkham said that non approved equipment such as cell phones and electronic imaging equipments are significant security threat for country.
“The staff deployed at Torkham border are working day and night to maintain vigilance over pedestrian traffic coming from Afghanistan” the officials said.
The department of investigation and prosecution I&P has filed FIR against accuse and further investigation s are under way.
