ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar has foiled a bid to smuggle DAP fertiliser to Afghanistan in guise of white flour and seized 10,700 bags of fertiliser along with offender vehicles worth Rs 90 million in Torkham.
According to the details, Torkham Customs Station staff intercepted seven trailers heading to Afghanistan at Pak-Afghan border for physical examination. The official found that fertiliser were being tried to smuggle in guise of white flour.
After finding contradiction between declared items and recovered items, the officials impounded the all sever trailers under the customs laws and lodged FIR against the accused person.
Officials said that it was a major smuggling bid, which was going to deprive the national economy of legitimate revenue, and has been foiled timely by the customs officials.
