TORKHAM: The Customs Station Torkham confiscated 750,000 fake Afghani currency and 1million genuine Saudi Riyals.

According to details given by Torkham Customs Superintendent Naeem Khan while talking with Customs Today that the Customs staff intercepted an Afghan national named Abdul Sittar S/o Haji Raza and recovered 750,000 Afghani fake currency notes from his luggage. The superintendent said the seized currency notes were smuggled from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
Naeem Khan told CT that, during another case, the Torkham Customs staff intercepted a truck with registration No: KBL-76777 which was heading toward Afghanistan from Pakistani territory. The superintendent said that, during a body search of driver named Farooz Shah S/o Hikmat Khan, a resident of Nangharhar, the Customs squad found 1million Saudi Riyals which were tactfully stitched with his body.
The Customs staff impounded the contraband foreign currencies and a truck and arrested the smugglers who were taken to a lockup for further investigation. The checking at the Torkham border has been tightened after these seizures.
The checking team was led by Superintendents Naeem Khan and Mahmood-ul-Hassan. It may be remembered that Torkham Anti-Smuggling squad also confiscated a huge quantity of ammunition coming from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
