Toyota car loaded with art-silk cloth impounded by Faisalabad ASO

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated imported art-silk cloth measured 750-kg worth Rs650000 involving duties and taxes of Rs250000 besides taking into possession a Toyota corolla car of Rs01million under Section 157 of the Customs Act-1969.

A tip-off was passed to the Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organization regarding the smuggling of foreign origin cloth. After receiving the secret information, the authorities constituted a raiding team comprising Tanveer Raza Naqvi (Superintendent), Faizi Raza, Muhammad Shah Newaz Inspector and Sepoy respectively, Liaqat Ali, Afzaal Hussain and Muhammad Yasin.

The party conducted a successful raid near Chiniot Bazaar Faisalabad and intercepted a Toyota Corolla Car bearing registration No: ASB-694 fully loaded with art-silk cloth being transported from Peshawar to Faisalabad.

When the raiding team asked accused Salman Zaib son of Fazal Wahid, a resident of district Bajaur Agency, to produce the legal documents regarding the import of above said cloth but he failed to do so.

After his failure, the ASO confiscated the cloth and registered a case against the accused. Further investigations are in progress.
