LAHORE: Pakistan and India have decided to resume trade across Line of Control in Kashmir after successful round of talks between the officials of the two countries. A source quoted Foreign Office Spokesperson Ms Tasnim Aslam as saying, “Decision has been taken to resume trade across Line of Control”.

After almost four weeks long crisis over the stalled cross LoC trade, it is expected that the trade will be resumed shortly as Pakistan and India have decided to exchange 75 stranded truck drivers and their vehicles held up on either side.

The trade across LoC was disturbed on January 17 when allegedly the Jammu and Kashmir Police of Indian Occupied Kashmir recovered 114 kg of brown sugar that was smuggled from Pakistan side in a truck through cross LoC trade and the Pakistani driver was taken into custody.
After the arrest of the driver, Pakistan also detained 27 Indian truck drivers while Indian side held up 48 Pakistani trucks.

The bus service across LoC was also suspended on January which was followed by a number of rounds of talks between the two countries. The bus service was then resumed in last week while both the countries have agreed to resume the trade across Line of Control.
