LAHORE: Traders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have been assigned a task to make the shutter down strike a failure on August 1. The traders are opposing the levy of withholding tax on banking transactions.
On other hand, Anjuman-e-Tajran Pakistan has announced a strike on August 1 and another group of the trading community has announced a strike on August 5.
This decision will divide the traders in the country and the impact of the shutter down strike will be decreased. The government has also given special target to traders of their party to make this strike unsuccessful.
Traders in Punjab and especially in big cities of the province failed to adopt a unified strategy to hold complete shutter down strike against 0.3 percent tax on banking transactions worth over Rs 50, 000. Both groups have given different dates for shutter down strike.
While All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajaran president Khalid Pervaiz and its Lahore chapter president Maqsood Butt announced strike, Anjuman-i-Tajiran Pakistan chief Ashraf Bhatti decided not to be part of the protest.
