DUBLIN: MSPs yesterday heard the Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) faces an 18 per cent shortfall compared to the Deputy First Minister’s projections.
Critics said the failure raised fresh questions over the SNP’s economic credibility ahead of further powers being devolved to Holyrood.
Official figures from the Scottish Government’s tax quango, Revenue Scotland, show it received £96.2million from the Stamp Duty replacement between April and September. That rate of revenue would produce a figure for the full 2015-16 year of around £192m, compared to Mr Swinney’s forecast of £235million.
