SYDNEY: The company behind the app, has announced the release of UltraTuner for Android on the Google Play Store. UltraTuner is a popular guitar tuning app currently available for iOS users and IK Multimedia.

According to IK Multimedia, UltraTuner is  “the most accurate instrument and calibration tuner” app you can get and is 10x more precise than the “gold standard” mechanical strobe tuners. As most people carry around a smartphone these days, it makes sense to be able to carry an accurate tuner with you in your pocket for use on the go.

While mechanical strobe tuners may be the current gold standard for instrument tuning, they are bulky and not nearly as accurate as UltraTuner. It sports a patented note detection engine that utilizes a proprietary dual-analysis process to deliver frequency readings with accuracy down to an astounding +/- 1/100 of a cent, which, as it happens, is 10 times more accurate than conventional mechanical strobe tuners – and it’s able to do this in an app that can be easily carried around on a smartphone in a pocket.

UltraTuner can be used with your smartphone’s built in microphone, or paired with IK Multimedia’s iRig 2, iRig HD-A, and iRig Mic products. The app features two modes – Stage and Studio, which allow you to choose the which readout is enabled and type of tuning information is displayed. UltraTuner also also allows for quick calibration and lets you select between eight different temperament types.

Features of UltraTuner include:

Innovative patented tuning engine that provides the highest level of responsiveness and accuracy with 0.01 cent resolution

Dual mode: Stage and Studio

Large tuning indication visible from a distance (Stage mode)

Tuning history to see the tuning variations over time (Studio mode)

Useful not only for tuning, but also for non-chromatic instrument training

Available as a standalone app for Android devices
