Under-invoicing cases: SHC orders release of consignments on payment of fine

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered provisional release of consignments of different items on payment of fine and penalty in under-invoicing cases.

A SHC appellate bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Arshad Hussain Khan, allowed interim relief while hearing two identical petitions in respect of different items.

During the hearing, counsel for petitioner Gulf Marketting International and BNM Enterprises. The petitioner expressed readiness to pay custom duty and other taxes to the Customs Department while to pay redemption fine, penalty etc with the Nazir of the SHC.

Gulf Marketing imported a consignment of Chemical Analyser while BNM imported Road Paving Machine parts. The consignments were detained after a huge difference of value was identified in invoices recovered from the consignment and one submitted by the importer.
