The border jumpers were tucked out of sight behind pallets of onions, according to the agency.

Federal agents with the help of a K-9 inspected the truck at the Falfurrias checkpoint in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas.

The dog focused on the trailer, where agents found the people cowering in hooded sweatshirts.

The driver, a U.S. citizen, was taken into custody, authorities said.

His identity and any charges weren’t immediately released. Authorities also haven’t identified the 11 people or their nationalities.

The people all declined medical treatment, the agency said.
