TUCSON: A Tucson man has been arrested after authorities said he tried to cross the border with 7½ pounds of heroin.
Customs and Border Protection said in a news release that Ivan Guillermo Medrano, 19, was sent to a secondary inspection while trying to cross through the Port of San Luis near Yuma.
A drug dog alerted to two suitcases Medrano was carrying and officers found six packages of heroin in false compartments. The drugs were worth about $105,000, the CBP said.
The drugs were seized and Medrano was turned over to U.S. Immigation and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
