WASHINGTON: U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced today that Spanish-language service is now provided by the CBP Information Center, the agency’s office responsible for answering the public’s questions about CBP and the laws it enforces.
This is CBP’s first step toward providing people whose primary language is Spanish the means to contact the CBP Information Center with their questions, tips about illegal activity, and compliments or complaints about their interaction with CBP employees.
The most efficient means for the public to get answers to questions — in English or Spanish — is to access the CBP Information Center’s website and its extensive database of answers to frequently asked questions. The database of answers has been translated and is now available at https://helpspanish.cbp.gov/.
In addition to the website, the CBP Information Center will respond to calls and emails in Spanish. CBP will simultaneously measure the volume of Spanish-language phone calls and emails it receives. The preliminary data will be assessed to determine the level of staffing and resources needed to adequately provide Spanish-language service.
