PLAQUEMINES PARISH: Authorities seized nearly 200 pounds of cocaine in Plaquemines Parish, representing the parish’s largest ever cocaine bust. The estimated street value of the drugs is $18 million.
An anonymous tip led officials to four suspicious packages around 10:30 a.m., Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco said. He did not specify where they were found. Inside the packages, authorities found 81 individually wrapped kilos of cocaine.
A preliminary field test found the contents to be pure cocaine.
PPSO said it is working jointly on the case with the United States Homeland Security Investigation’s New Orleans field office.
