ALBAMA: Six months after Mercedes Benz announced it would pull up roots from Montvale and move its U.S. headquarters to Georgia, the shock has turned to resignation among local businesses as the German car giant begins the transition.
The first wave of Mercedes Benz employees will go this month, about 200 of them, to a temporary office a few miles from Sandy Springs, where Mercedes-Benz plans to build a new permanent headquarters. Aldo Palumbo, at his Aldo & Gianni Ristorante, said he gets about 15 percent of his weekday business from nearby Mercedes-Benz
Montvale businesses say they will survive the departure and the eventual loss of a large chunk of the 850 workers employed at Mercedes-Benz, a plan the company announced at the start of the year.
