KARACHI: The three member fact-finding committee formed on probing the scam of revenue shortfall of Rs 450 million in share of surcharge on the clearance of around 1900 vehicles has not yet reached its conclusions after passing the deadline set by Federal Board of Revenue in connection with compilation of report.
FBR had formed a three member committee in mid April comprising of Model Customs Collectorate of Exports Collector Wasif Memon (who led the committee), Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Additional Director Khalil Yousfani and Additional Collector Khalid Jamal of Audit Collectorate. The committee was given a deadline of April 30 to complete its probe into the said incident and reach the conclusion.
Sources informed Customs Today that the said committee requires another week to conclude its final probe into the matter of revenue shortfall of Rs 450 million in share of surcharge on the import of 1900 vehicle.
They further confirmed this scribe that the committee had convened only two meetings during the stipulated time, which produced no result in this regard.
Despite several attempts to contact Collector of MCC Exports, Dr Wasif Memon in order to obtain information over the current status of the probe, he was not available for comments.
