KARACHI: Virus has entered software (IRIS) installed to file tax returns online.

Sources said thousands of businessmen had so far not been able to file tax returns as faults appeared in IRIS. The FBR had installed the software this year, but it is not working properly. Measures are being taken to remove the virus. Last date for filing of income tax returns is 30 October.

Traders said they were facing difficulties in filing income tax returns due to the current political impasse in the country. They said the fresh row between the Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement could further add to their woes. They demanded that the FBR fix the software and also extend the final date to submit tax returns.
