Wall collapse at Neelum-Jhelum dam kills Chinese among 6; dozens injured

MUZAFFARABAD: Wall collapse at the site of under construction Neelum-Jhelum Dam killed six persons including a Chinese engineer and left many others injured.

The incident occurred at Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project, some 40 km north of Muzaffarabad, the capital of AJK.

Work was in progress at the site when a wall collapsed all of a sudden, burying dozens of labourers under the rubble.

The rescuers rushed to the site and pulled out bodies of six persons including a Chinese engineer from the debris while dozens of labourers, including three Chinese labourers, sustained injuries. Condition of some of the injured labourers was stated to be critical.

SP Mushtaq deputed on the security of the project, confirmed the deaths in the accident.
