PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that his government discouraged the condemnable practice of the past political leadership who invested in politics and got astronomical dividend in return.

Those political leaders put at sale all the lucrative jobs in public sector institutions and did politics on public interest and they left behind a legacy of loot and plunder, he added. He was addressing three different public gatherings at Union Council Barot PK-45, Dalola and Lohar Tanwal Sherwan during his day long visit to Abbottabad.

Advisor to Chief Minister Mushtaq Ghani, Minister Qalander Lodhi, MNA Dr. Azhar Jadoon and others addressed the gatherings.

The Chief Minister announced a Tehsil for the area and asked the elected representatives and the peoples for the selection of central place for the Tehsil Headquarter accessible to both Barrot and Dalola so that the people could have easy access to the Tehsil headquarter and find the solution to their problems.

He also announced a developmental package for Barrot, Dalola and Lohar Tanwan Sherwan in road communication, education and health sectors and other local development schemes.

He said his government succeeded in getting Rs 100 billion as net hydel profit from the center and approved Chashma lift irrigation scheme for which the province would bear 30% and the federal government would provide 70% adding that his government would use its natural gas for producing cheap electricity for onward transmission to the industrial estates in the province.

He said that his government transferred 30% of its annual developmental budget to the local government system and therefore this slowed down the execution on the developmental strategy but the World Bank, he added, was about to arrange a soft loan of 70 billion rupees which would be diverted to developmental strategy throughout the province.

Pervez Khattak alleged that the political rulers of the province in the past used everything including the public resources for their own benefit.

They invested in politics and polluted the sacred name of politics.

The Chief Minister said his government changed the old system which was safeguarding the interest of corrupt politicians and replaced it with a new system of transparent governance and overhaul and all public sector institutions to be subservient to the public.

He also recounted his government achievements in different sectors that included the police reforms, health reforms, Education reforms and a set of legislations including the right to Information, Right to Services, Conflict of Interest, Whistle Blower etc.

Pervez Khattak said that now the rulers could never misuse their power and authority. He said that his government ensured facilities in 13 Thousand schools which was previously known as missing facilities. It recruited 20 Thousand teachers and would complete recruitment of 30 Thousand teachers this year.

In health sector the teaching hospitals were given autonomy which was a unique step by the government in the health sector.
