LONDON: WhatsApp has released a new beta version of its chat software for Android, which finally brings with it support for Starred messages. The feature was granted to the iOS version of app a month ago.
Starred messages is actually a section where you can store your favorite messages to be viewed later on. To highlight a message for later preview, long-press on it, and then click on the star that appears above. The highlight will then get stored in a dedicated Starred messages section which can be accessed by tapping on the three dots on the main screen of WhatsApp.
The feature would really come handy for those who are struggling to find something in their incoherent chat threads. But if you delete a chat, the Starred messages from that particular thread will also be deleted along with it.
In addition WhatsApp version 2.12.338 for Android comes equipped with a few other traits including document support and search for PDFs, DOCs and so on. The update may feature a few other tweaks as well, that are still to be discovered, as no official changelog is available right now.
