NEW DELHI: Xiaomi has again posted an interesting teaser on its official Mi India Facebook page. In the post, Xiaomi says: “i is coming. Register to attend our global Mi phone premiere in New Delhi on 23 April”. The post further asks people to tag everyone they know and share it.
The link opens the Xiaomi India official page with a similar message and a ‘register’ button. Clicking the button leads to a registration page, below which there is something really interesting.
In a tweet, Xiaomi India said that the global premiere of its next smartphone will be on April 23, with registrations already started on its official India website. CEO and founder Lei Jun, president Bin Lin and global vice president Hugo Barra will attend this event.
Though the tweet above doesn’t say much, it intrigues users with the ‘i’ reference, which has traditionally been associated with Apple. Xiaomi has long spoken of its admiration for Apple, and has been accused of copying the Cupertino giant many a times.
Earlier this week, Xiaomi ended its exclusive partnership with e-commerce website Flipkart, expanding its products’ availability to Amazon as well as Snapdeal. It also sells products on its official website.
It also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for selling over 2 million smartphones in less than 12 hours.
