Zafar Ali Shah calls for promulgation of rent control law in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The senior leader of PTI and senior advocate Supreme Court Syed Zafar Ali Shah has called upon the government to take measures for the early promulgation of a balanced rent control act in Islamabad to meet the long-standing demand of the traders of federal capital. He said this while exchanging views with Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry during his visit to Chamber House. Iftikhar Anwar Sethi Vice President ICCI, Muhammad Naveed Malik, Nisar Ahmed Mirza and Faizan Shehzad were also present at the occasion.

Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that traders of Islamabad have been demanding since long for new rent law but long delay in its enactment was creating problems for them. He stressed that the current government should arrange the passage of amended bill of rent law from the parliament and enforce it so that traders of Islamabad could feel facilitated in getting justice in rent disputes. He said for promoting business activities, traders needed peaceful and secure environment and added that the promulgation of new rent law would help in realizing these objective.

Speaking at the occasion, Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that in consultation with all the stakeholders, an amended bill of a balanced rent law for Islamabad was prepared and presented in the National Assembly during the tenure of previous government. However, no action has been taken so far to pass the said bill into law and delay in its enactment was creating frustrations in the trading community.

He said that the Finance Minister Asad Umar during his election campaign had assured that if voted to power, PTI government would arrange passage of rent law from the parliament for its promulgation in Islamabad. He called upon Asad Umar to use his influence for the passage of amended bill of rent law from the parliament without further delay to honor his assurance so that traders could promote business activities with a sense of security and peace of mind. He also thanked Syed Zafar Ali Shah for lending support to this important cause of the trading community.
