Faisalabad Air Freight Unit captures 77 non-duty paid mobiles

FAISALABAD: The Customs Air Freight Unit (AFU) has seized more than 77 pieces of smuggled cellular phones at Faisalabad International Airport during checking of passengers luggage who arrived from Dubai via flight no. FBD-343.

Sources told Customs Today that AFU team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan along with Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joya, Inspectors Rai Waqar Ahmad,  Muhammad Khalid, K.B Niazi and Rai Khalid, Ghulam Ghous,  Zia Ullah Cheema intercepted a passenger Muhammad Younas son of Muhammad Suleman and checked the invoices of the cellular phones carrying in black bag. The customs team asked the passenger to show receipt or invoices but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

During the checking, the customs team found mobile set Samsung Galaxy J-3, Samsung Galaxy S3, 4G LTE, Samsung Galaxy Grand Primea, mobile Samsung SLTE. The AFU seized all mobiles under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969. The value of seized cellular phones is estimated at Rs1.8 million involving customs duty Rs2,57,262.

AFU team after registering a case against the owner forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
