Customs ASO impounds 3 trucks loaded with non-duty paid of goods

LAHORE: The Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded three Mazda trucks loaded with cigarettes, gutka, sheesha flavours, tobbaco Guru 300 and cigars worth millions of rupees.

The ASO, in pursuance of information of Collector Customs (Preventative), Lahore Zulfikar Ali Chaudhary, raided a godown and residence of Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Haroon and Abdul Qayyum, at Gari Shahu, Lahore and recovered a huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes, gutka, sheesha flavours, tobacco Guru 300, cigars and three Mazda trucks, from the possession of one Dilroze Khan available on the spot.

The sources said that the operation was conducted after a day long vigilance of the godown and finally the ASO team on the directions of Additional Collector Nayyar Shafique led by Deputy Collector of Customs ASO Moazam Raza successfully raided the godown and confiscated the illegally imported Items. The sources said that the total value of the illegally imported items is Rs 10.9 million.

The ASO raiding team was also consisting of Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer, Deputy Superintendent Mazhar Butter, Deputy Superintendent, Inspectors Nasir Saeed, Sajjad Bukhari, Mansoor Elahi, Gulzar Bhatti, Mughal-e-Azam, Asif Nawaz, Tariq Baig, Ijaz Butt, Javaid Iqbal Butt, Abdul Qayum Butter, Abdul Ghaffar and others.

The sources said that the customs authorities already registered a case against accused persons. Further investigations are in progress.
