No raid on any business premises without solid information: Member IR Policy Dr Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) didn’t try to get raid power and even has no intention to get such authority in order to raid the homes and business premises of non-filers, said Member Inland Revenue Policy.

Talking to Customs Today Member IR Policy Dr Muhammad Iqbal said that the board has restricted authority to raid on the non-filers residents. He added that no raid would be conducted on any business premises without solid information. Three exclusive zones, one each at Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad are working to broaden the tax base, he added.

Dr Iqbal further said that field formations are sending notices to the non-taxpayers as usual and notice will not be served on those who took advantage from the government announced Tax Amnesty Scheme.

He also said that the board will continue to facilitate taxpayers and focus on non-filers by enhancing taxes on them in order to improve revenues of the country while Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee would further be refined for quick resolution of tax disputes.
