LAHORE: Accountability Court has handed over a suspect, Tahir Basharat Cheema, in NAB custody for physical remand of 14 days in an embezzlement case.
Sources told Customs Today that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab arrested former managing director of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), Tahir Basharat Cheema, during an action in Lahore.
According to NAB, Cheema had abused his powers as MD of the company and appointed persons after ignoring merit, rules and regulations. These recruitment was made in Gujranwala Electric Supply Company during his tenure.
NAB Punjab on Friday presented him before the Accountability Court and asked for his physical remand. The Accountability on the request of NAB approved his 14 days physical remand.
