Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan summons suspects in cloth, truck smuggling case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Beelam-ur-Ramzan has issued a show cause notice to suspects allegedly involved in smuggling of grey fabric by using Mazda Mini Truck involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs 1.241 million.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted a Mazda Mini Truck bearing Registration No LRC -3550 loaded with grey fabric near Gutwala Toll Plaza, Sheikhupura Road.

The team asked the accused persons namely as Haji Khalid, Shah Mahmood and Mujahid to show documents regarding legal import of the cloth and truck but they remained fail to do the same.

The customs staff impounded the truck and sent the case to the Customs Adjudication after making a seizure report.

Additional Collector Beelam ur Ramzan issued notices to accused persons on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed them to file their replies by November 21, 2016 that is also last date of hearing. The seizing agency has been directed to file their replies in their respective cases.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on the schedule date along with relevant record.
