ANF recovers drugs worth Rs 676 million in various operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 5 kg heroin and 262 kg charas worth Rs 676 million, arresting seven drugs traffickers including foreign national.

ANF conducted operations in various cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi against the drug smugglers, said a press release.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a suspected consignment containing sugar cane machine at Shaheen Cargo Office, Jhelum City. Consignment was destined for United Kingdom.

During search of the consignment, 5 kg heroin was recovered from the said machine; heroin was tactfully concealed inside the drum rollers of the machine. As per preliminary investigations, the consignment was booked for United Kingdom by a person namely Amjid Ali, resident of Lahore.

The consignment was intended to be received by an individual namely Umer Mehmood at Herison Road, Leicester, United Kingdom.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine profiling detained a Nigerian National Ugochukwu Promise Ebere at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad, who confessed of gulped heroin filled capsules.

He intended to board for Dubai by Emirates Airline Flight No. EK-615. After reaching Dubai, the accused was to fly for Lagos. ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug supplier namely Jamil Ahmed, resident of Islamabad and recovered 2 kg charas from his personal possession. He was arrested near Tramri Chowk, Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, while proceeding for delivery of drugs to some nearby locality.

ANF Lahore Road Check Team acted upon a source information and arrested 2 persons namely Muhammad Farman, resident of Peshawar and Wali Khan, resident of Gujranwala along with recovery of 2.4 kg charas from their personal possession. They were arrested near main Motorway Sheikhupura Interchange, while riding on a motor cycle.

As per initial information, the arrested accused Muhammad Farman came from Peshawar to deliver drugs to the other accused Wali Khan, a local drug supplier.  ANF Lahore Road Check Team seized a Toyota GLI Car at ANF Road Check near Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore. Search of the vehicle led to recovery of 7.2 kg charas, which was concealed in secret cavities of the car.

An accused namely Rehmat Ullah, resident of Dera Ismail Khan was also arrested during the operation. As per initial reports, he was to deliver the drugs to local peddlers at Lahore city.

ANF Karachi on pursuance of an intelligence report, raided a house in Mohallah Aasu Goth, Malir, Karachi and seized 250 Kg Charas hidden in the premises. Two individuals namely Muhammad Umair and Shah Zeb, both resident of Karachi were taken into custody for investigations.

Cases have been registered against all the detainees at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under process.
