FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Sargodha took into possession a foreign origin Hino truck bearing registration No: LEI-17-3379, Model 1992, valued at Rs4.2million involving duty and taxes of Rs 950000 during a crackdown.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Asif Mahmood Jah received a tip-off regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Assistant Collector, Shah Samad Hamadani, which also included Inspector Shah Nawaz, Sepoys Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Yasin.
The team intercepted a Hino truck near Kamalpur Interchange Toll Plaza, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad. The team asked the driver of the vehicle, identified as Muhammad Asif, to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so. The ASO team impounded the truck and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication.
