ATIR adjourned hearing of petition filed by M/s Aftab Traders

ISLAMABAD: The Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) adjourned the hearing of a tax matter challenging issuance of a show cause notice to M/s Aftab Traders on Thursday.

ATIR Accountant Member Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti heard the case as single bench and directed the counsels to hold arguments during coming week.

The bench was hearing a matter remanded back to tribunal by the Islamabad High Court with directions to decide the fate of the matter lawfully. The appellant had challenged the earlier announcement by the tribunal terming that clauses of income tax were ignored.

It had prayed the court to ensure an announcement according to the law following which the court had remanded back the case to the tribunal.

The FBR, officers of RTO including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate were made respondent in the petition.

M/s Aftab Traders prayed that the assessment order issued by the RTO officer was illegal, unlawful and without legal grounds.
