ATIR attaches tax matter of M/s POF with other similar cases

ISLAMABAD: The Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) attached a tax matter filed by M/s Pakistan Oil Fields with other similar cases.

ATIR Accountant Member Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti will now hear the case filed by M/s Pakistan Oil Fields with other similar cases in coming days.

M/s Pakistan Oil Fields had challenged a decision announced by Regional Tax Office of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) before the tribunal.

M/s Pakistan Oil Fields had challenged the recovery of outstanding income tax by the RTO Islamabad. This case, filed by M/s Pakistan Oil Fields, was heard by the bench for the first time and adjourned. The bench was hearing a matter remanded back to tribunal by the Islamabad High Court with the directions to decide the fate of the matter lawfully. The appellant had challenged the earlier announcement by the tribunal terming that clauses of income tax ignored.

It had prayed the court to ensure an announcement according to the law following which the court had remanded back the case to the tribunal. M/Ss Pakistan Oil Fields had contested the show cause notice issued by the field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue.

The tribunal was hearing a number of cases remanded back by the apex court. The court also issued directives to decide these matters at the earliest and submit a report before the court.
