KARACHI: Pakistan’s cement dispatches remained largely stable in March despite the Middle East conflict, with exports rising and overall construction activity holding steady.

According to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, total cement dispatches increased by 1% year-on-year to 3.745 million tonnes in March 2026.

Domestic sales declined marginally by 0.20% to 3.097 million tonnes, attributed to Ramazan and Eid holidays. In contrast, exports rose 6.56% to 648,564 tonnes during the month.

For the first nine months of FY26, total dispatches reached 38.54 million tonnes, up 9.80% from 35.1 million tonnes in the same period last year. Domestic sales increased 10.61% to 31.6 million tonnes, while exports grew 6.25% to 6.94 million tonnes.

Industry representatives said ongoing geopolitical tensions pose risks to the sector, given its reliance on energy inputs. They noted that fluctuations in oil and coal prices could raise costs and disrupt supply chains.

Analysts at Topline Securities estimated cement capacity utilisation at 52% in March, compared to 60% in February and 53% in March last year.
