Chief Collector Enforcement South discuss foreign currency issues with collector Export

KARACHI: The Chief Collector-Enforcement South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has called on the Collector Export Muhammad Yaqoob Mako at his chamber here yesterday.

During the meeting, the Chief Collector-Enforcement South reviewed the performance of the Collectorate and expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing performance of the Collectorate of Export.

The Chief Collector-Enforcement asked the Collector Exports to keep vigilant eye over the submission of Form-E by the exporters in connection with export consignments, as the federal minister for finance has already expressed his deep concern over the transfer of US dollars through unfair means to other foreign countries.

The Chief Collector further apprised the Collector Exports that the Federal Board of Revenue-FBR would further evolve an effective strategy soon in order to curb the smuggling of US dollars to other foreign countries, adding that the authorities concern should also prepare some recommendations in this regard.

The Collector Export has assured the Chief Collector-Enforcement South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar that they would utilize all its available resources in order to keep tight vigilance over export consignments and foreign exchange which the exporters got after exporting the consignments.

Meanwhile, Customs Appraisement West, Appraisement East and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim have sent the lists of the officials to the Chief Collector-Appraisement South Abdul Rashid Shaikh for further departmental action against them. The officials were not doing their assignments and tasks within the stipulated time, it is learnt.

The sources informed Customs Today that the chief collector Appraisement South had earlier told the collectors of all the field formations to compile the lists of delinquent officials and send them same to him.

The sources revealed that the collectors of field formations have eventually finalized the lists and also sent the same to the chief collector Appraisement South for further action. They confirmed that the chief collector has decided to take stern departmental action against them.

Replying to a query, the sources disclosed that around 135 Customs officials from all three field formations are included in the lists, adding that most of the officials are appraisers and principal appraisers.
