Collector Zulfiqar’s ASO confiscates items worth Rs 5.7m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized smuggled items worth Rs 5.731 million and registered five cases during the third week of March, 2016.

Following the instruction of Collector Dr Zulfiqar Ali Chudhary, the ASO team launched a campaign under the supervision of Deputy Collector Rana Falik Shair. The ASO team, comprising Superintendent Saeed Joyia, Inspectors Muhammad Safdar, Abdul Jabbar, Azhar Hussain Jafri and Zulafqar Ali, sepoys Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Abdullah and Afzal Hussain, participated in the raids.

As per details, the ASO impounded two non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 2.5 million, 680 kilogram of smuggled Indian tea worth Rs 258,784, tyres and tubes worth Rs 25,917, electronic goods worth Rs 1.87 million and others miscellaneous items worth Rs 1.077 million.

The officials confiscated the items after the owner of the said items could not show documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of the items.
