IR Commissioner Qasim Raza forms four teams to monitor WHT deductions

Qasim Raza also cancels registration of 104 companies

 

ISLAMABAD: Inland Revenue (IR) Regional Tax office (RTO)-III Commissioner Qasim Raza Khan has formed four teams to monitor deduction of withholding tax (WHT) in accordance with the Sales Tax Act, 1990.

Sources told Customs Today that the monitoring teams will also be responsible for submitting a detailed weekly report to their respective departmental heads.

The first team will consist of six members, headed by IR Additional Commissioner Ziaullah Khan, and includes Mirza Asif Baig (AIR), Shoukat Ali Toori (AIR), Abdul Basit (AIR) and supervisors Taskeen Shaiq, Parvez Adil and Muhammad Amir Sohail.

The areas of focus of this team are Secretariat Blocks B, C, D, P, Q, R and S, and other blocks of government offices and departments of the Constitution Avenue.

The second team will consist of eight members, headed by M Usman Rashid (OIR), and includes Hafiz Ahmed (AIR), supervisor Imran Zubair, Saqib Fryaad Malik (IIR), and others.

The third team will consist of three members, Muhammd Zubair (DEO), supervisor Safder Khan and supervisor Anyat ul llah Khan, while Saleemullah Khan will head the backup team.

The fourth team will consist of two members, headed by Muhammd Uzair Khan, and the other members are Muhammad Arif Khan (IIR) and Imran Shahid (DEO). This team will view all cases regarding salaries of the government and private sectors.

The members of these teams can visit and take CPRs and cross-cheques. They also have the authority to see the deductions in terms of salaries and other benefits.

Meanwhile, Qasim Raza Khan has cancelled the registration of 104 companies for not submitting their sales tax returns for the last six tax periods.

Sources told Customs Today that these companies have not submitted their sales tax returns after sales tax registration, which was revealed through the e-portal of the FBR.

The IR has cancelled the registration of companies, including Mega Mall, National Diplomatic Banded Warehouse, Black Smith, Shoukat Traders and Wood Mood.
