LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has issued a 14-day judicial remand of the accused in smuggling BOPP film from Afghanistan to Faisalabad.
Earlier, the alleged accused was on physical remand for three days in the custody of the Customs Faisalabad.
According to details available to Customs Today, the suspect was arrested by the Customs authorities of Faisalabad, who was identified as Mubarak Sheikh son of Shamas ul Qamar involved in smuggling of BOPP film. Customs authorities registered a case against him under section 2 (2), 16, 18, 132 A, 156 89 and 178 of Customs ACT of Pakistan 1969. An FIR number 2/2015 was also registered against the accused smuggler.
Worth of the smuggled material is Rs 4.5 million in national market and duty taxes evaded on smuggled goods is also a huge amount. Customs Court after completion of physical remand has send him to jail for judicial trial.
