Custom Court grants remand of accused in Rs 15m tax evasion case

LAHORE: The Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Lahore has given physical remand of the accused involved in tax evasion of Rs 15 million through fake sales tax invoices.

On Wednesday, the Custom Court granted remand of Javed Iqbal who was arrested by the FBR Intelligence Unit. Javed Iqbal was involved in fraud of refund by making fake sales tax invoices, involving fraud refund of Rs 15 million on fake documents.

The accused is a residence of Faislalabd and was wanted to Inland Revenue because of having fraud history through fake refund. Special Custom Taxation and Anti Smuggling Court granted remand of javed for seven days for more investigation from the accused. The FBR will present the accused in the court on February 2 for further proceeding.
