KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued Show-Cause Notice (SCN) against the importer Mehar International as it got undue advantage of SRO 1125(I)/2011 and 695(I)/2007 in importing of the consignments of fabric yarns.
According to details, the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in February constituted a case against the importer Mehar International in which it stated that the said importer was involved in evading taxes worth Rs 3.3million under the head of sales tax, additional tax and income tax.
The authorities concerned of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation in its contravention report stated that the importer Mehar International violated the sub section 32(I) and 2, punishable under Clause 14 of the Section 156(I) of Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3, 4, 6, 7A, 8(I)b and 33 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 and Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
The Collector of Customs Adjudication-I Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi has fixed the hearing date on March, 24 into the case in which the legal representatives of the importer Mehar International would present their legal view point.
