ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal dated in office proceedings on a couple of customs cases filed by M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad.
A single bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal comprising Member Technical, Muhammad Nasir Khan, heard the cases. The bench heard initial arguments by parties and adjourned the hearing for the next week. M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had filed these cases, challenging announcements made by the DGI&I, Islamabad.
M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had asked the tribunal to direct the department to release the imported items which were confiscated by the customs authorities under alleged attempts to smuggling.
Same bench had earlier decided cases filed by appellants, M/s Yarkan International and Nadeem Khan. Both cases were filed in 2016 and collector customs was made main respondent in the cases.
Both the appellant had challenged decisions of department’s adjudication before the tribunal pertaining to their imported goods which were seized by the authorities following complaints of misevaluation.
Both parties had denied the seizure of goods claiming that no mis-evaluation was made while importing the items.
