Customs Appellate Tribunal, ATIR to resume hearing of cases from Jan. 2

ISLAMABAD: Benches at Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and Customs Appellate Tribunal were not taking up tax matters during ongoing week owing to recently announced week-long vacation.

According to details, staffers and members of Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and Customs Appellate Tribunal were on leave for the present week and would resume hearing by January 2, 2017.

A week long vacations were announced at Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and Customs Appellate Tribunal in account of yearly leave granted to majority of government offices during winter season.

Prior to the winter vacation, the Customs Appellate Tribunal had heard and disposed of quite a few cases involving submissions by and field offices of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Customs Appellate Tribunal division bench comprising Members, Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan; and a single bench comprising of Syed M Anwar heard the cases.

Syed Muhammad Anwar heard the cases filed by M/s Lucky Enterprises, Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed these cases. All of these cases had been filed during 2016.

M/s Lucky Enterprises had had filed the case against MCC. It had challenged a customs duty assessment sustained by the adjudication.

Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed cases regarding release of vehicles which were seized by customs authorities amid attempt to smuggling various items.

Tribunal’s division bench comprising Members, Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan heard the matter submitted by M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited. The company had filed the case against Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad. The company had filed the case in 2016.
