Customs car cell impounds non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 8.3m

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigations of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized a used Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 8.3 million.

Sources told Customs Today that special car cell received information through informer that a non-duty paid used Toyota Land Cruiser, bearing registration number AS 111 Islamabad, having chassis no TZ S53 0006839, is parked in Bahria Town.

After receiving the information, the staff of special car cell rushed to the spot and found the vehicle parked in side the road. As soon as staff reached there the driver of vehicle fled away from the scene leaving the car abandoned. After waiting long hours the vehicle was taken into the custody and shifted to the warehouse situated at Sector G-12, Islamabad.

Special car cell team physically examined the vehicle and tallied with the record of import, amnesty scheme 2013 and auctioned vehicles but no record found exist in any available data.

As per ETO MRA Islamabad registration no AS-111 Islamabad is allotted to another Toyota Land Cruiser having different chassis number. The vehicle has been seized as unclaimed under the section 17 of Customs Act 1969.

Further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report.
